Hussain began his finance career in New York with Merrill Lynch.  In 2003 Hussain joined Citigroup and successfully restructured the USD 22 billion Saddam-era commercial claims and issued the debut USD 2.7 billion Iraq 2028 Eurobond –receiving IFR’s Global Restructuring Deal of the Year.
At Deutsche Bank, Hussain originated landmark trades including: the inaugural USD 1 billion, 2.149% coupon, Iraq 2022 USAID bond; as well as Iraq’s first independent Eurobond-- the USD 1 billion, 6.75% coupon, Iraq 2023.  
Hussain is on the Advisory Board of the RAND Corporation and is a Member of the Atlantic Council’s Task Force on the Future of Iraq. He served as President of the U.S. Business Council in Iraq and Economic Advisor to the Governor of Basrah. 
Hussain has been featured in the Financial Times, Time Magazine, The Banker, FDI Magazine, Platts Energy Week, Iraqiyya Television and the internationally broadcast CNBC Capital Connection.
 
Hussain received his Bachelors of Arts with Honors from The College of William and Mary.  He holds a Master’s Degree from the School of Foreign Service; an Honors Certificate in International Business Diplomacy, and; a MBA from Georgetown University.
