Majid Jafar, Member of the Board
Majid Jafar is the Executive Director of the Crescent Petroleum Group in Sharjah (UAE), the Middle East's oldest privately-held oil & gas company. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of Dana Gas (PJSC), the first regional, private-sector integrated natural gas company in the Middle East, where he serves as Chairman of the Corporate Governance and Remuneration Committee and as a Member of the Business Development Committee. He is also a Director of Gulftainer Ltd., the second largest ports and container terminal operator in the Middle East. His previous experience was with Shell International's Exploration & Production and Gas & Power Divisions, both in The Hague and in London, working on the Global Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Team. In addition to his professional commitments, Majid Jafar serves on the Board of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development (AFED), the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce, the Sharjah Expo, and the Iraqi-British Friendship Society. He is also an active member of the Royal Institute for International Affairs in London, and of the Young Arab Leaders (UAE Chapter). He holds Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Engineering (Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics) from Cambridge University (Churchill College), as well as an MA (with Distinction) in International Studies and Diplomacy from the University of London's School of Oriental & African Studies (SOAS), and an MBA (with Distinction) from the Harvard Business School, where he served as President of the Energy Club, Section Senator, and representative to the Harvard Graduate Council.
